Hampton and Bancroft, in front of Target

I pass by this intersection literally every day. Rarely am I passing through it on a bike, but I walk past it fairly often, so I'm surprised I just now noticed this one. Either way, wtf. This is like the 4th or 5th location along Hampton alone.

1/6 to 1/1
It was about a foot from the curb. There have only been a small handful of them that have been out in the middle of the street, i.e. away from the curb or corner. Is this supposed to have significance to car traffic, or is it pedestrian related? My worst fear, as I've stated before, would be that I will find out this whole thing to be just a douchey art project.

Stay tuned.

Compton and Caroline, near SLU

Riding down Compton today, I found something that SLU has yet to destroy - another domino in the pavement.

There seemed to be a casino token next to it, though it was loose. It also seemed to have been mashed into the pavement, though I could have flicked it away. I felt like it was supposed to be there though.

If I were brighter, I could probably figure this out.

Southwest Garden

Riding down Southwest the other day, I pass by 59th street. Looked to be newly paved. What do I find? A domino. Directly in front of Jimmy Macs Bar, catercorner to Amigo Joe's, and their crappy patrons.

Well There, you, go.

5/4 to 4/1
This is gettin' just plain crazy.

Hampton and Sunshine

This one is at Hampton and Sunshine, not too far from Wilmore Park. With colored dots! Talk about excitement. Life doesn't get much more on-the-edge than this.

6/6 to 6/0

What caught my eye was the fresh pavement.

This is one of several locations along Hampton that I've found so far. You can find them at Hampton and:
-West Park
-Fyler
-Delor

Recently, a cohort of mine suggest that there might be some at Jefferson and Van Buren - in Kirkwood. I need to go check it out, and if there are some, it would be the first set that I've found outside of the StL City limits. Stay tuned.

Another in the Shaw Neighborhood

I know this street was paved only within the last 2 weeks.

Shaw and Klemm, a block south of Hwy 44.

3/4 to 3/0
I'm beginning to wonder if I'll return to some dominoes that I've already found, only to find that they have been added to.

Stay tuned.

On Delor and another on Cherokee

Thanks to a co-worker who managed to remember stumbling upon one while drunk, I found a single on Cherokee, on the south side of the intersection at Ohio (2 blocks west of Jefferson.)
1/3

And while heading to find the Cherokee location, my domino radar started beeping as I turned onto a double Delor off of Christy (near the split at Kingshighway, across from the Fire Station.)  Behold!

2/2 to 1/5
While you're checking out the set here on Delor, go a block north on Kingshighway and stop into Eddie's Southtown Donuts. Oooooweeee, he makes a good donut.

The plot thickens.

ANOTHER Set Near Carondelet Park

Riding down Holly Hills today with my buddy Nad, we noticed a set not near an intersection.

It's on Holly Hills Blvd, on the bridge over the Railroad tracks, near the southern terminus of South Grand.

1/5 to 4/4

Edge of Carondelet Park

Thanks to one of my nuttier co-horts, the lovely Ms. Anne D., I found yet another set, this time a triple, at the entrance to Carondelet Park, at Holly Hills and Leona. I think that makes 3 sets along Leona, and in fresh pavement laid on Holly Hills.

0/3 to 1/2 to 0/4
There seems to have been a lot of re-paving in south city recently, more chances?

WHO IS DOING THIS

Eichelberger and Christy Blvd.

Another one found on Eichelberger. Riding along, my spidey senses started tingling when I noticed fresh asphalt. I commenced rejoicing procedures when I spotted this one waiting for me - it must have been done at the same time as the one at Macklind and Eichelberger, as I bet Eichelberger was paved all at once.

The plot embiggens.

Macklind and Eichelberger

Found fresh pavement at the intersection of Macklind and Eichelberger. That caught my eye, and low and behold:

This must have been a recent "installation" as the pavement and the painting were really fresh.

I think this makes #36.

Another Set in Forest Park

At the behest of two comments on the previous post, I had two locations to check out. One was at Talmage and Manchester (at the Atomic Cowboy) and the other was in front of the Highlands golf course in Forest Park.

Talmage and Manchester was a bust, however I did strike gold in the Park:
I bent over to see how solid it was, and was dismayed to find that it was loose. I could have removed it by hand. I hope it sticks around!

About 1 foot to the right of the curb:

This is the second set that I've found in Forest Park, both seem to be marking a "landmark" of sorts. You may remember the first set I found is right at the bottom of the Art Hill. Are there more in the park?

I'm a little bummed I couldn't find any at Talmage and Manchester, like the commenter said. But then, there is the possibility that people are screwing with me, and now that they are reading that I actually went to check it out, they are laughing all the way to the bank. If they do in fact exist, someone want to shoot me a message or put a link to a photo in the comment section?

Hopefully, more to come.

Brannon and Oleatha

Thanks to a "follower" for pointing me to this one, near the nut-house:

At the southwest corner. I've passed over it countless times - often while looking for one. It is in an easy to miss spot and orientation.

#34.

Ya'll a buncha jerks...

Busy Day of Finds!

4 sets different sets and two "Toynbee Tiles!" All but one were found downtown. I may have to do a little more exploring downtown...

Broadway and Market Street:

Washington and 10th:

(near) Washington and 7th - note the "random placement:"

Broadway and Filmore (near Carondelet:)

And the two Toynbee Tiles:

Brings the total number of domino sets to 33.

2 More Sets, Both on Fyler

Basically on either side of Tillis Park. Notice that the first ones are blank. That has to signify something...

Fyler and Voerster:

Hampton and Fyler:
 wtf...

Grand and Washington

 Right in Grand Center, brah.
I just saw the comment from the last post, so I'm going to have to check out that location soon, unless someone else gets to it first and send me the 'dence. (That's short for "evidence.")

More to come, I'm sure.

Meramec and Louisiana

Found another set, this time down in Dutchtown. In fact, it will be on the course for the Dutchtown Classic Pro Bicycle Race this weekend! Hopefully no one will get distracted and wreck.

#26.

Russell and Vandeventer

Was informed by someone in my vast network of domino informants throughout the city about this one. Just a single solitary domino, in pretty fresh asphalt, as usual.

wtf

Most Interesting Find Yet

Having found one in front of the Grand Basin/Art Hill in Forest Park has me very intrigued, and potentially throws out the "route markings" theory. With a set of dominoes directly in front of a major landmark, and NOT at two intersecting streets seems to strengthen my "treasure hunt/geo-caching" theory.
Interesting to note about this set is that this set is the first that has up to 9 dots on each half, whereas all the previous ones have only had up to 6 per half. This must add some significance to this location, or at least more than the rest. Perhaps it is the final set to find? The end of a route? I just don't know...

I inspected this set, and they look like there had been a smalle "hole" chiseled into the pavement, and then these had been cemented into somehow. I'm thinking these weren't put in when it was repaved.

-More to come.
